Tooth sensitivity is very common and it can be an issue at hygiene appointments for some patients. Our hygienists therefore use the latest ultrasonic technology to help make the process more comfortable.
We have also discovered other helpful ways to decrease sensitivity, such as elevating the temperature of the water and even providing local anaesthesia in some cases.
If sensitivity is still a significant problem, we suggest seeing one of our dentists for further assessment. In cases of substantial gum disease and recession, you may be referred to one of our periodontists, who are specially trained to treat these issues.
Yes. You will, however, need to obtain a referral letter from your dentist in order to receive treatment from our hygienist.
Unfortunately, other dentists can be reluctant to do this. Many patients, therefore, come to our practice for their once-a-year dental check-up (which costs £25 plus the cost of any necessary X-rays).
You can indeed! Patients who visit the hygienist for a scale and polish every quarter (three months) or more can receive a very cheap discounted rate of £45 per appointment… £20 off our standard price of £65!
As well as brushing teeth twice a day, daily hygiene routines should include flossing to remove debris from between teeth. interdental brushes can also be used to clean the sides of teeth which have larger gaps next to them that aren’t accessible with a toothbrush.
